A sample of five measurements, randomly selected from a normally distibuted population, resulted in the following summary statistics : x = 4.8, s = 1.3
a) Test the null hypothesis that the mean of the population is 6 against the alternative hypothesis, u > 6. Use ? = .05.
b) Test the null hypothesis that the mean of the population is 6 against the alternate hypothesis, u â? 6. Use ? = .05.
c) Find the observed significance level for each test.
*** "x" should be an x with a line over it (which I think is supposed to be the mean). the "s" should be slanted to the right (I think this is standard deviation). the "u" should actually be the character that looks like a "u" but the left side of the u is longer (it hangs down)--not sure what this should be.
