In recent years the universal church of Christ has started to embrace the vision of 'Marketplace Ministry'. Many Christians are now seeing themselves as marketplace ministers, but are we really? Are we to be considered marketplace ministers because we call ourselves by that name?

First and foremost, a marketplace minister is a Christian, i.e. Christ-like and a follower of Christ; therefore, his/her behaviour in the marketplace is to demonstrate the mind of Christ and all of the principles and teachings of God Almighty. Unfortunately, we do not find this to be the case with several marketplace ministers. Christians have a poor reputation in the marketplace and many non-Christians who we so quickly call the ungodly, can easily recognize our flaws. Flaws such as dishonesty, nasty attitudes, poor work ethics, covetousness and selfishness are out there - all up in your face! There are many others, but need I go on? It is so disgraceful that those who say they are followers of Christ present Him in such a poor light.
