A brief historical review shows that the place and location where Benedict wrote the Rule has not been determined. However it has been chronicled as early as 530 after the monks fled to Rome. It is written based on previous patterns of monastic thought and presented in the eight century. Based on this historical review, the works reflects Benedict's "matured monastic and spiritual wisdom?
