As you describe a situation in the cause of a person's behavior was uncertain, I offer an idea to model from my own life. When visiting The Philippines, I encountered a group of people who used the concepts of consensus, constancy, and distinctiveness toward me. Their behavior in this situation was mainly externally caused and culturally biased by images of Americans from movies and media. For example, because they expected me as an American woman to act obnoxiously and provocatively like a Brittney Spears video character, they exerted consistency since "The tendency to seek and expect consistency may influence you to see what is consistent and to not see what is inconsistent" (wps.ablongman.com/ab_devito_intrprsnl_11/43/11047/...).
