About Hobbes' Theory of Mind
Thomas Hobbes, one of the British Enlightenment's driving forces is credited as having established philosophical thinking to have shaped modern Britain. His work, 'Leviathan' established the notion of 'social contract theory' which discussed the source of social systems and the authority of government of a nation or state over individuals and peoples. Here he discussed how and why people surrender certain rights and freedoms in exchange for the protection of their remaining rights for the purpose of survival. This notion also touched on a theory of mind or thinking as he has drawn from his other works - 'The Elements of Law' and 'Elements of Philosophy' to establish the notion that human beings use reason and logic to make sense of their decisions and choices through a discussion of mind and language.
