There are three variables that define the state of the ideal gas:

P is the pressure of the gas - how hard do the molecules hit the walls of the container.
V is the volume of the container of the gas.
T is the temperature of the gas.

All the molecules of the gas are considered to move in random directions and all the collisions between the molecules is elastic - that is no loss of energy due to the collision.
