Please explain the bumper sticker "I bitch, therefore I am." Compare it to the philosophy of Descartes' "I think, therefore I am." How are they different? Why is it easier for women to answer this question than men?
Descartes was searching for something that would validate his existence. He needed something to hang on to that couldn't be just a figment of his imagination or something illusory. Many things could be said to be just an illusion rather than being reality. He then came upon the idea that "I think, therefore I am."
His reasoning is that the instant that I begin to think about the reality of my own existence I prove my existence. Only a non-entity could be capable of doubting his own existence. In other words doubt regarding thinking or existence will itself remove doubt. When Descartes said this he was not claiming that the body or the physical world actually existed. His point was that the mind itself existed in some form.
