The ladder method is an alternate method of integration by parts. I will illustrate with some examples.
Example 1
Step 1 - Start two columns with headings D and I on a piece of paper.
Step 2 - Split the function into two factors and write one underneath the D and the other underneath the I. In some cases this will not make a difference, but with this example and others like it, placing certain functions under the D makes more sense.
