Solve the following equation for y:
y^2-2y = x^3+2x^2+2x+3
The answer is supposed to be: y = 1 plus/minus sqrt(x^3+2x^2+2x+4).
I have no idea how they arrived at this.
I'm trying to apply the quadratic formula, but I don't know how to do it in this case.
