The so-called term "New Democrat" was not new at all, it was simply a ploy by those within the democratic party such as Bill Clinton to lure back racist white voters that had left the party for the "New Republican" majority that had been created after white racists left the Democratic party because of the Civil Rights agenda that was implemented by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Many white southerners were outraged that the Democratic party had supported desegregation, Black Civil Rights, and equality, and when Nixon capitalized upon their outrage by appealing to their racist, pathetic, beliefs, they abandoned the Democratic party for the "New Republican" party, which was established to elicit support from this racist demographic.

All Bill Clinton did was appeal to this demographic by creating some of the most destructive and racist legislation in the history of the American presidency, which ironically negatively impacted the very people who ...
