Native American Women

The Native Americans of present-day United States reckon their affinity, ownership, history and memory of the lands we now all call home to the reaches of the earliest reckoning of their tribes/nations. Their mythology is filled with homage to the land granting divinity and power to the earth, water, wind, moon, the forest, the stars and the skies. Dependent on the culture of tribes, most of them were hunters and nomads, travelling over varied terrain within a land they reckon as their vast territories, having never been limited by any other force on earth aside from natural conditions. The arrival of the colonists soon saw them pushing inland and by the time the American Revolution triumphed, the highly volatile relationship with the Native American Indian tribes turned absolutely problematic as the government took necessary steps, including military and force to gain access and control to lands for their natural resources and agricultural potential. Tribes were forced out and while some fought, heavy assimilation and the mightier force of the new American nation soon saw Native Americans segregated and living within the bounds of a reservation.
