The Celtic culture is greatly underestimated for its influence on Europe as a whole. This is because not much is known about the people or tribal communities we associate as being Celtic. Another group of influential people were those of the Carolingian culture, who helped shape Europe into the unified nation we see today. Answer the questions below based on the information lectured in class, the textbook, and information found for other resources. (Remember you can always look at the notes form the lecture posted to the class content, left-hand side of screen)

Augustus mother had distinguished connection as a result of being the daughter of Julia, sister to Julius Caesar. Therefore, was born into an equestrian family as his father Gaius Octavius, was a senator. It was his mother's connection which would prove vital to his success.
The reason Octavian was so important was because of his bureaucratic skills with one his many great achievements resulting in persuading the senate to accept him as head of the Roman state, while leaving the senators room for their political ambitions. He was instrumental once more in changing the Roman constitution with the Second Settlement and thus awarding him tribunician powers for the rest of his natural born life enabling him the right to call the senate to meetings, to propose legislation in the popular assembly, ...
