His "Life of Alexander" is one of the few surviving secondary, perhaps tertiary, accounts about Alexander the Great. It includes anecdotes and descriptions of incidents that do not occur anywhere else. Plutarch gives a physical description of Alexander, but also more of a heroistic portrayal of the stories that arose about Alexander (e.g. Bucephalus's shadow, etc.).
