There are no basic differences between Soviet Communist authoritarianism and German and Italian fascism. In the Soviet Union, the government controlled the means of production and private property. In communist ideology, the society is the sole owner of resources, but during the time of Stalin, communism slipped towards totalitarianism. Fascism and Nazism originated in 20th century They were led by Adolf Hitler and Mussolini respectively. Both Fascism and Nazism allowed private property, but ultimately it was controlled by the state. They gave great importance to states than the individuals. The soviet authoritarianism glorified socialism and equality, while the fascists and Nazis believed in racial greatness and extension of their empires beyond the shores. Fascists in Italy even developed a policy of isolation to make Italy self reliant. Thus we can see that eventhough, the ideologies discussed here seemed different, the end result was the transformation of their respective countries into totalitarian states.
