Do you agree: (A few sentences..)
Music that's as beautiful and relevant in 1705 as it is in 2005. I also believe that the "balance" referred to in the powerpoint presentation has to do with the methodical process involved in composing classical music.

It wasn't until I began studying music theory (my classical guitar lessons) that I realized exactly HOW mathematical classical music is. It's no accident that much of it sounds good in different keys or even when you play it backwards! As emotional as classical music can be, composing it requires a very scientific approach.

I don't agree that pop musicians are as talented classical musicians. Not that I don't love pop, I do. It's just that I don't think they're as talented is all. Well, maybe talent isn't the right word. Let's just say that as talented as 50 Cent is (I <3 fitty), I don't think he's as skilled a musician as say...Frederick Chopin.

#2, Do you agree? (A few sentences..)
I don't agree with the theory of classical music being written by dead white men. I do however agree with the statement that classical music, is serious music, while popular music is not. It just seems to me that when you listen to classical music, it puts you in more of a relaxed mood, and atmosphere. And when you listen to most other types of music, it tends to have various other effects to your state of mind. I also feel that not too many people in the world entirely appriciate classical music. And, that they only like whats new, and trendy. But, in the end, if you listen to classical music, your bound to have a larger perspective on things, vs. only listening to trendy music, where all you might have is new lyrics...i dont know, this is just an opinion.

The piece that I have thought of is "Blowin' in the Wind," by Bob Dylan. I like it because it is song of its social protest. This style of music is called folk rock. This important transformation of rock occurred in 1965 at the Newport Folk Festival when Bob Dylan, appeared, playing electric guitar and backed by an electrified rock band. This triggered a synthesis of the folk revival and rock subsequently took place, with folk groups using rock arrangements and rock singers composing poetic lyrics for their songs (e.g., the Beatles' "Norwegian Wood," "Eleanor Rigby"). The Byrds' arrangement of Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man" is a folk-rock classic. Performers like the Mamas and the Papas; Peter, Paul, and Mary; Donovan; and the Lovin Spoonful sang a kind of music designated "folk rock." Among Dylan's many social protest songs are "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'." Dylan's style evolved from acoustic folk ("Don't Think Twice") to folk rock ("Highway 61 Revisited"), country blues ("Country Pie"), and hard-driving rock.

Classical music is music composed in a classical tradition and intended as serious art, especially as distinguished from popular or folk music. It also means a loose expression for European and American music of the more serious kind, as opposed to popular or folk music. It is the traditional genre of music conforming to an established form and appealing to critical interest and developed musical taste. Classical music is music considered classical, as sophisticated and refined, in a regional tradition. The term "classical" has many connotations. The present page aims at distinguishing between the many meanings "classical" can have in the realm of music.
Classical music is sometimes defined as music produced in, or rooted in the traditions of art, ecclesiastical and concert music. A music is classical if it includes some of the following features: a learned tradition, support from the church or government, or greater cultural capital.
