Chinese farmer: His wife buys all food at open air traditional food markets and other items from small general stores or specialty stores (like stores that only sell shoes). And she might go to open air night markets and the like to buy non-food items that are low quality and low price.
US software engineer: Buys his food at supermarkets and non-food items at large department stores and malls.
African parent: His wife buys all food at open air traditional food markets and other items from small general stores or specialty stores (like stores that only sell shoes). And she might go to open air night markets and the like to buy non-food items that are low quality and low price.
