CHILDHOOD OBESITY IN THE UNITED STATES

Literature Review

Obesity can be a one time event in a family but it has a tendency to run in families. There is approximately 75% chance a person will be overweight if their biological mother was overweight as a child (WebMD, 2009). A significant effect on the human body is the emotional toll. Most obese people do not want to be in this condition. It is very humiliating to be singled out because they cannot sit in a chair with arms. They may be turned away from taking an air flight because of the inability to fit in a seat. There is a constant fear of moving in a world of smaller people and getting embarrassing stares from other ...
