1. What is the difference between an assessment and an evaluation?
Evaluation is to determine significance or worth or judge the effectiveness of the overall business programs and projects (Are they working?). There is formative (beginning) and summative (end) evaluation (see example 1 below).
Assessment is to determine a rate or amount and is used as an activity to measure aspects of projects, employee performance and other human characteristics, such as to determine if they are working towards the mission (see example 3). It might be used to assess the needs during program development. It might be used to assess workers performance or some aspect of a program (see example 2).
