1- There is a backlog of two to three years of requests from four operating divisions of the company. This shows extremely poor management of the IT department and a possible lack of personnel. There should never be a backlog this high. Leslie needs to do two things - she needs to determine if staffing should be increased, which would increase the available manpower that can work on the backlog, and she should also determine the type of oversight and management that is currently in place in the IT department. If the structure is poor, she should immediately begin implementing policy and procedure changes that improve efficiency in the IT dept. through a more structured dept. and greater control. This will improve employee efficiency and reduce any wasted time that may be contributing to the backlog from current IT personnel.
