This Indian law firm recognized that the market for good legal counsel has become more competitive, and as a result many competent lawyers find themselves in demand by other firms. So S&P have worked very hard to examine and adjust their recruitment and retention policies, in order to make sure that all of its legal personnel are satisfied with job variety, organizational environment, merit based salary and opportunities for advancement. Evaluating their organization's strategy, Singhana and Mohotra made sure that the legal work for was challenging and not just fill in the blank work; they maintained a genial organizational environment with annual picnics and company vacations; their salary increases were not based on seniority, but on merit and opportunities for advancement were based on the value that the employee adds to the firm. These are all sound strategies for retention of the good talent in their workforce.
