The Wagner Act is also the National Relations Labor Act of 1935. The names are used interchangeably. The Wagner Act made it legal for employees to join unions, and to organize and assemble (act) as unions. This also gave union representatives the right to act on behalf of the employees in all matters relating to the union, involving the employer and any activities that were union-directed. Along with the unfair labor practices act, the major provision in the Wagner Act made it illegal for employers to subject employees to unfair labor practices. The Taft Hartley Act regulated unions, as to where the Wagner Act worked to establish the legal dealings of unions. Under the Taft Hartley Act, unions had to start disclosing their financial resources (where they got money from), and worked to protect union members from unfair practices that took place by members who controlled the unions that weren't acting in the best interest of the members.
