What is a stakeholder? A stakeholder is anyone that has a "stake" in the success or failure of a business. This is anyone who is genuinely interested in making sure that the company is successful.

My university defines stakeholders in a similar manner to the definition above, however, they put the most emphasis on the student. We have a motto here that is "students first," and this is a priority that all professors must follow.
