Management in the American sense is a class of people—a class of people that boys and girls look up to and aspire to the role. In the United States, the manager is a cultural hero. Hofstede stated that in Germany, manager is not a cultural hero. However, managers in Germany are expected to assign tasks and to resolve technical problems—they are considered the engineer.
