1. How many channel levels are appropriate for your company's targeted business segment? Based on the number of channel members, should you use exclusive, selective, or intensive distribution? Why?

This product will need both two, three, and four levels. Selling the product directly to the consumer from the website is possible. However the most likely scenarios are to use distributors to move the product in some areas and the direct to retailers in others. This allows coverage plans for all regions of the world markets, where we plan to sell the product.

The direct to retailers method is most cost effective for us and for our customers. The lack of middleman fees and add on costs is an appropriate choice where large retailers can be approached and sold the product. The type of product and our company's reputation will allow for quicker spread of our new product and salespeople should find it easy to market to the larger companies.

Our product's main selling points, the length of time it lasts and its branding, means we can choose our distribution type. We could price it higher and choose exclusive distribution, but the product is so needed by more women we are choosing to roll out the product at the selective level, moving ...
