There are many different ways for a manager to reward employees and give them positive reinforcement. A good supervisor / manager knows his / her employees well enough to know what kind of positive reinforcement is most motivating and or satisfying for each one.

One type of positive reinforcement would be to praise the employee publicly in front of other employees. This lets the employee know he / she is appreciated, and the employee may feel extra satisfaction for being praised in the presence of coworkers. A manager might also take an employee aside and praise him / her in private, if the employee might be embarrassed or others might not appreciate him / her being praised in front of others.
