During rest the heart needs to pump a basal amount of blood through the body in order to sustain basic physiological functions. During moderate and intense physical exercise the heart rate increases linearly according to the muscle mass being utilized in order to facilitate the oxygen demand as well remove waste i.e. carbon dioxide.

The brain always has a constant supply of blood flow, as it does not require additional oxygen during exercise. However there is a minimum amount of oxygen constantly required in the brain, if these levels become decreased levels of consciousness (fainting) will arise. The reason why blood demand to the brain isn't altered.

The muscles are not at full capacity when exercise is started, therefore there is a log rhythmic relationship between blood flow to the muscles and exercise until the capacity is met. After that a linear relationship is seen which is proportional to workload.
