What form would you consider the work? Both of these works are sculptures, one in bronze, by Donatello, meant to be viewed in the round, and in marble, the Pieta by Michelangelo, meant to be viewed from the front.

- What materials are used? Donatello's David is cast bronze, and Michelangelo's Pieta is carved and polished marble (stone)

- What techniques or processes are used to create the artwork? Cast bronze is done using a mold. The mold is usually made in the negative from a full-size sculpture, sometimes in wax, which is the positive. The wax is burned away, leaving the mold, which is then used to pour the molten metal into. Once cooled, the mold, usually of plaster, is broken away, and the bronze is trimmed and polished.
