Domestic violence when related to intimate relationships means different types of violence particularly psychological violence, stalking, sexual violence, or physical violence. Such aggression may be combined with sexual coercion and emotional abuse. Safety planning means making preparations for violent situations. Specifically, it means making preparations to protect oneself during violent situations, making safety preparations when preparing to leave, and safety preparations in own residence. In difficult cases, safety planning also means getting an order of protection from the local police, and also preparing her belongings so that she can leave when she wants. The role of social workers during intimate partner violence is to make sure that the victim and children are safe, the social worker engages with the perpetrator and challenges him to change, and the social worker connects with the whole family to understand the impact of intimate partner violence (a).
