For this Capstone Project, the topic is teen substance abuse with a focus on alcohol abuse and teen DUI's - a direct impact of the alcohol abuse among teens. This is a very important issue today especially since car crashes are the biggest cause of adolescent deaths in the US. According to the State of California (2015), "Eight teens die every day in DUI crashes. At all levels of blood alcohol content (BAC), the risk of being in a car crash is greater for teens than for older drivers...In 2005, 7420 teens died or injured in DUI crashes. Teen fatalities make up one-fifth of all alcohol-related crashes, though licensed teens make up only about 6% of the overall licensed population." This makes car crashes, particularly that fuelled by DUIs as the number one cause of adolescent deaths in the US.
