Classical conditioning involves the pairing of a conditioned stimulus with an unconditioned stimulus. The conditioned response is a learned reaction to the conditioned stimulus, and an unconditioned response is an involuntary physiological reflex that results from an unconditioned stimulus. Many behavioral reaction patterns are explained by classical conditioning (Friedman & Schustack, 2006).
