Transistor designs

1) If rd (= 1/gd) is included in an ac-equivalent of a common-base amplifier, (a) show that the appropriate expression for Avi is [(gd + gm)(RC║RL)] / [1+ gd (RC║RL)].
(b) Show that Zo  is RC║[rd + (1 + rdgm)(RE║Rs║rπ)].

2) Design a common-emitter amplifier to provide a gain |Avi | ≥ 200 between a source having Rs = 0.3 kΩ and a load RL = 6 kΩ. The input impedance is to be greater than 1 kΩ and Vcc ≤ 20V. Facts about the transistor are: 150 ≤ βdc ≤ 400, βo = βdc, n = 1, 0.6 ≤ VBE ≤ 0.7V, ICEO = 0, RBB = 5KΩ, rd = ∞, and VA = 150V.
