Understanding Native American attitudes and beliefs can help a teacher with classroom instruction

When a teacher understands the history and cultural philosophies of a tribe, lesson planning in a public school can be easier.  Learning the unique traditions and customs will help the teacher teach more effectively and will more likely engage the learner. The difficult task of teaching English and western content can be simpler when avoiding a 'cookie cutter' approach of one size fits all thinking. Most students in this global world are familiar with what is going on in the world due to the Internet and media yet they still live within the community culture and lesson planning needs to be done accordingly
