Estrada Courts sprang from the ground almost instantly in the late fall of 1942 and early spring of 1943. Originally the East Los Angeles community was constructed for war workers living in Los Angeles in the early days of World War II. When the war came to an end, returning servicemen and their young families lived in the area but gradually they left the community and Hispanic immigrants, both legal and illegal, began to move to the area.
