Benefits of Glycoproteins
Many species of beans produce a poisonous group of glycoproteins called lectins, which cause red blood cells to clump together (agglutinate) and cease to function. (Fortunately, cooking destroys most of them.) Using what you learned about the structure and function of glycoproteins, suggest how they might do this. What benefit do you think plants might get just by causing red blood cells to clump together? Analyze
